Luxembourg proceeds with Expo 2020 construction
Construction works at the Luxembourg pavilion for Expo 2020 are proceeding after overcoming the hurdles presented by Covid-19.
The statement from the organiser says “analysis of several scenarios showed that the best solution in terms of costs and budget was to complete the construction work as quickly as possible”.
The steel structure for the $32m pavilion is nearly finished. Once the first ‘layer’ is complete, a secondary steel structure will be added, on which a glass-fibre membrane will be placed. The steel is supplied by Luxembourg-based steel producer ArcelorMittal, which is also one of the pavilion sponsors. Nearly 70 per cent of the project materials will be reused after the event.
